On the 19th November 2009 Leeds Voice and Voluntary Action Leeds held a very successful, well received joint annual public meeting at Wheeler Hall, Leeds Cathederal. The meeting, entitled 'Working Together' showeed the strenghs of partnership working and a united sector throughout.
After a welcoming open from the Lord Mayor, Councillor Judith Elliott, Councillor Richard Brett gave the first speech, invited as his role as Chair of the Leeds Initiative. In his speech he praised the work of the voluntarty sector in Leeds and held an open floor for questions.
David Smith, Director of Leeds Voice, and Richard Jackson, Chief Officer of Voluntary Action-Leeds, took us through some of the achievements of the two organisations in the past and priojected plans for the future. Staff from both organisations talked about current projects they were working on; some of which are partnership projects.
Over 80 attenddees, many of whom used the services of both organisations, and finished with Voluntary Action Leeds' AGM after lunch.
